At Shift Portland we believe fitness and movement are synonymous with a happy, healthy life. We see personal training as preventative medicine that will help cut healthcare costs and provide the quality of life we all hope for as we age. We believe personal training is for everyone and that no two people have the same wants, needs, or schedule. We take pride in getting to know our clients on a personal level and figuring out the goals and motivation of each individual. Whether you are recovering from an injury or surgery, starting a fitness routine for the first time, or are a seasoned athlete, Shift Portland will develop a completely individualized program to reach your goal and get you feeling better than you have in years.

At Shift-Portland there is no body-building or weight dropping. There is no loud music. There are no old, dirty machines. Just immaculately clean floors, personal attention, expertise, and music of your choice.  


Meet Tom and Rebecca

Tom Kropf -  Tom received his bachelor's degree in exercise science from Loras College in Iowa and a master's degree from Rockford College outside Chicago.  Originally from Nebraska, Tom has always had a passion for football and coached in the college ranks for many years following graduation. Prior to starting Shift Portland, Tom was responsible for the business and education of more than 65 trainers as Personal Training Manager for the Flagship location of Equinox Fitness Clubs in NYC. While not at the gym, Tom enjoys being outdoors running, biking, hiking, golfing, or exploring.

My philosophy is simple, CHALLENGE EVERYTHING! Everyday we are presented by different challenges in our life and my programs are designed to meet those challenges head on! By creating situations that make you work AND think, we can make those challenges easier to deal with physically and mentally. I focus on training the whole person, not just part!

Rebecca Woll - Rebecca holds a masters degree from Columbia University in Motor Learning and Control with a concentration on balance in adults 55 and older. She is a certified Balance and Mobility Instructor for FallProof! through the Center For Successful Aging at Cal State Fullerton.  Rebecca is also a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association with additional certifications in functional movement (FMS), nutrition (Precision Nutrition), and kettlebells (RKC). Previously, Rebecca managed Personal Training departments for Equinox Fitness Clubs including Flagship locations in New York City.  Rebecca holds a BA in Dance and English from Connecticut College. Prior to her current focus Rebecca was a professional modern dancer who continues to choreograph and teach throughout the New York and Portland, ME area.

Rebecca is dedicated to promoting healthy aging among “younger” older adults, and quality of life among older adults.
