At Shift Portland we believe fitness and movement are synonymous with a happy, healthy life. We see personal training as preventative medicine that will help cut healthcare costs and provide the quality of life we all hope for as we age. We believe personal training is for everyone and that no two people have the same wants, needs, or schedule. We take pride in getting to know our clients on a personal level and figuring out the goals and motivation of each individual. Meet Tom and Rebecca

Tom KropfTom Kropf  

Tom’s varied experience in the health and fitness industry is something that makes SHIFT unique.  He has studied and practiced many methods of training and coaching since his professional start at the University of Iowa as a strength and conditioning assistant for the football program.

Since that time, Tom has earned a Master’s degree, received his level I mentorship at the Institute of Motion, worked with professional athletes, A-list celebrities, pre-op and post-op rehab patients, CEO’s, politicians, youngs kids, the elderly, and everyone in between!

Tom has received training / certifications from the NSCA, Kettlebells, ViPR, TRX, Animal Flow and many more.  During his time working at Equinox in NYC, he was fortunate to be able to learn from some of the top minds in the industry such as Ido Portal, Mike Boyle, Charlie Weingraf, Michol Dalcourt, and many others.  He is proudest to have led the education of 100’s of trainers during his years with the company and he is continuing that role here at SHIFT!

Rebecca WollRebecca Woll 

Rebecca holds a masters degree from Columbia University in Motor Learning and Control with a concentration on balance in adults 55 and older. She is a certified Balance and Mobility Instructor for FallProof! through the Center For Successful Aging at Cal State Fullerton.  Rebecca is also a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association with additional certifications in functional movement (FMS), nutrition (Precision Nutrition), and kettlebells (RKC). Previously, Rebecca managed Personal Training departments for Equinox Fitness Clubs including Flagship locations in New York City.  Rebecca holds a BA in Dance and English from Connecticut College. Prior to her current focus Rebecca was a professional modern dancer who continues to choreograph and teach throughout the New York and Portland, ME area.

Rebecca is dedicated to promoting healthy aging among “younger” older adults, and quality of life among older adults.


Meet Shift's Instructors

Mitch Loeman

Mitch is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the national strength and conditioning association, and holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from the University of Southern Maine. There, he was a 3-year member of the men’s basketball team, which sparked his love for health and wellness. Although training his whole life for the sport of basketball, Mitch truly believes that there is far more to fitness then meets the eye, and that if instructed properly; fitness can improve all aspects of life. The saying "movement is medicine" is something Mitch feels passionately about and embodies through his training style, both personally, and with clients.

"As humans, we were born to move, yet so many of us have put extreme limitations on our movement through unhealthy habits. I will help rid you of those habits. Through careful planning, precise programming, and a will to succeed, those limitations will be a thing of the past."

Kait Johnson

Kait Johnson E-RYT, received her 200 hour certification in 2014 In La Jolla, California, under Goldie Graham, Amanda McCarroll and Carolina Vivas. As a former Division 1 collegiate lacrosse player, Kait brings her knowledge, passion and experience of competing at the highest level to her Yoga for Athletes programming. Rooted in the precision of Iyengar Yoga and inspired by her passion for athletics, Kait’s unique style is a thoughtful blend of ancient and modern disciplines. Through creatively encompassing a heightened focus on alignment, connection, and mindfulness, she is known for teaching intelligently sequenced classes, designed to strengthen muscles, increase flexibility, and balance the many imbalances of today’s athletes. Her holistic approach aims to generate a mindful, resilient athlete. When she's not teaching yoga, you can find Kait coaching lacrosse, running, sunning, adventuring, eating acai bowls, spending time with her family & friends and snuggling with her goldendoodle, Summer.

Crystal Seaver

Crystal is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, with a specialty certification in Functional Training. She coordinates personal and group training sessions, online fitness programming, and healthy living consulting. She strives to help clients achieve balance and make a healthy lifestyle transformation - a move well, eat well, be well approach. Crystal’s hybrid training methodology incorporates cardio endurance work, strength training, nutrition guidance and mindset awareness. The goal is to train and fuel for daily performance. This tiered approach allows her to work with clients of all abilities to create a plan that can be adopted for life.

Crystal's love affair with running, was all she needed to be off and running [figuratively and literally]. In the Square World of social media [instagram: crystalseaver], Crystal shares her story, workout ideas and tips, healthIER food favorites, motivation and life adventure. She was recently named one of the top social media influencers to follow by Runner's World. 

Crystal spends most of her time in Maine, with her family, balancing life. She loves to trail run, travel, work up a good sweat, meet for a cup of good coffee and whole heartedly believes in the power of human connection.
